Dominique Thread!

Ok, thank you. I'm new to the whole shipping & hatching stuff. lol... These little ones are my first Doms & I love their personalities already. I am really wanting to breed them later on. Do you have any suggestions on a breeder who I could get some from come spring time? Or are you one yourself? There really aren't any Dom breeders here in south FL that I can find, so I was thinking I could try to start a good line down here for the future... Thank you again!

Well, I hatched my last dominique eggs today that I purchased. Yes, people are right in saying fertility is very low right now. I have purchased 2 different batches of eggs from 2 different sources and have 3 chicks to show for it. That is if todays one chick makes it. Out of 10 eggs only 3 developed and one hatched. I opened the other 2 and they were deformed. The eggs were packed in foil for shipping so not sure what happened there. I had purchased 18 eggs around Thankgiving and hatched 2 from those. Now if I only have a hen and a rooster out of these I will be fine--I think the first 2 were pullets but I cannot tell yet with this last one.

I will be setting up my breeding pens soon & will have eggs to sell. At this point I think this will be my last year with the Dominiques so this may be the last chance to get into my strain. I'm finding that I just have more to do than time allows & something has to give.
If anyone is interested in eggs let me know & I'll place your name on a waiting list. If we've spoken about eggs previously please remind me
Also I will be selling my breeders later this year. If anyone is interested in taking over this strain I'd like to sell the breeding flock as a whole. Contact me if interested.
