Dominique Thread!

Yay! My last chicks of the year have arrived! Got a batch of Dominique bantams in from Cackle today. Looking forward to watching them grow out! I am a little concerned that it looks like I have all pullets though...LOL. Generally I have exactly the opposite problem! Maybe I will be wrong on a couple of them.

Is there a thread specifically for bantam Dominiques? I would like to learn more about them, and how/when they were bred down to bantam size.

We got six Dominiques today from a local breeder.

We went back and got two of his older chicks. We think they are 6 - 7 weeks old.

Well out of twenty bantam Dominique chicks shipped I am down to five. They seem rather frail, poor dears. Anyone have a good source for hatching eggs? Maybe that will work out better.

AFAIK, all bantams are more fragile than LF. What are they dying of?

They kind of just faded out on me. the five remaining all look to be roos. Other bantams that shipped in the same order had much better survival rates.

Nope. All mixed together. There were also EE bantams and porcelain d'uccles.

Yeah, I had it mixed up. I went back and looked at that page to sex Dominique chicks again. :/
