Dominique Thread!

She's right about the type, but I love that this is her favorite. It's not always the prettiest girl who steals your heart.

Awwww!

I posted pics of her at 1 week and at 4 wks and everyone said pullet. I was wondering about the light coloring and the big comb. My luck continues...10 roosters that were all supposed to be pullets.

Well, look at it this way. You've got the start of a Dominique breeding project, lol! You said you wanted to hatch some, so having the roo gets you halfway there.

Some of my Doms tonight, they are 6 weeks old now. Love their color and that they are so calm. Virginia is still my buddy and must be held every time I'm in the pen.

mine follows me around all day too! :) She's like a ninja, always sneaking up on me and just standing behind my feet!
The hen in my avatar used to follow us around the garden hoping we'd pull weeds or use the pitchfork to uncover worms and bugs for her to eat. If you stopped in any one place for too long, she'd walk around in front of you and peck your knees! At first she'd just tug on your pant leg at the knee, but if you didn't start moving she'd peck right at your knee and you'd jump because it pinched. Heh! She had us well-trained. She loved my husband the most. When she wasn't pecking at his knees, she'd walk over beside him and put one foot on his foot. She liked to just stand there that way. I know chickens are simple creatures, but she sure had a big personality. :)

That is awesome! I always like to think there's something more complex going on in her (and the chicken in your avatar's) brain. My other chickens don't think like that for some reason...make me love this chicken even more :)
