Dominique Thread!

This is Matilda at 9 weeks old. I believe she is a Dominique x Cochin cross. Do you guys agree? 1. That she is in fact a she and if she is a Dominique based on her comb.
This is Felicity Frizzle, I believe she is a Bantam Cochin/Barred Rock? She is also about 8 weeks old. 1. Do you guys think I am right about her sex? 2. right about her breed cross?
Thank you for any help..............

Both of your chicks are adorable!!!!!!

Matilda's comb looks pale for 9 wks, so I'd guess female.
I can't see the other chick very well & don't know much about those breeds. (I do agree that she/he looks like a BRx Cochin.)

I have never been that great with the head spot thing...and each line is a bit different anyway.

But... I would think that the two with a frosting/edging of white at the back base of the head are male.

Breeding lines.... So it would be the hatchery you bought them from.... Or the breeder.

Different breeders select for different factors, so as a result the chicks hatch out a little different.

4 Dom chicks. If head spots are right I think I've got 3 girls and 1 boy. Although looking at leg color it looks like 4 girls.

Usually the females have small tight white head dots and little to no white splashing at the back of their head and have darker legs/toes. The boys tend to have a broader splashing of white at the back of their heads and a lot less to no dark legs/toes. One looks very much like a boy, possibly two boys. I bet they are active little buggers! So cute.

I tried the water test with my Dom eggs today day 22 and it seems they are viable eggs but there was no movement. If they are alive should there definitely be movement? Super attached to these little eggs but losing faith. Also used a flashlight and didn't see any movement. Wishful thinking or could they still be alive?

Me... I would peak inside the egg..... But that is me. (I admit... An idiotic move)

If you decide to look inside and see if they are alive...then read this article first so your risk of causing damage is lower.
