Dominique Thread!

The year before last had 4 newsletters go out. Not sure about last year since I missed my renewal and didn't re-up till this year. They really haven't been keeping up the site lately, even the members area. The only thing really kept up has been the breeder's directory in the member's area.

Most everything now seems to be channeled through the facebook page. Not that I completely agree with it but that is the reality. The world progresses and it seems to be easier and more convenient for those running the association now.

They also have gone to regional representatives for the DCA. I got one email notification last year (when I wasn't a paying member) from mine and nothing since.

For those that are not receiving newsletters, electronically or hardcopies, contact your regional.cooridinator, president or secretary via the meet us page on the website and I am sure they will get this out to you. Also there is a Dominique Chicken fb page that is open to the public that is also used by members that you can share your concerns.

Suzette is always wonderful at getting back to you and helping. I too think I got lost in the mix regarding newsletters last year but I was told they are working out those kinks. I also was promptly sent a copy of the most recent one. I wish the actual site had more to it... but I have yet to check out the fb page *I loathe fb but may have to go back just for the Doms lol* I completely blanked on renewing so just recently did so. I believe they still take checks *I do pay pal* as there is still an address available for it.

I'm still trying to get some chicks...or prospective chicks in the next few months.... and haven't been replied to *now by 3 different people* So may soon be taking up someone's kind offer for a few older girls.

Perhaps venturing to fb page is in order lol

I found it very difficult to get Dom breeders that would ship juveniles as I can't/won't have chicks. GL with your search finding some Doms! I'm dying to get some Cackle Doms and maybe I can talk Cackle into a single juvie shipment when I'm ready in future.

Yeah I have been contacting some actual breeders within driving distance bc i personally don't like shipping after a horrible experience with it one time. Just been hard to get responses for some reason lol. I'm determined though, may break my "no fb" streak to go on the Dom page

If possible, try to visit with actual breeder more than once or meet breeder at a show.

I ordered a couple rare breeds last year around October from a CO NPIP breeder willing to grow out and ship 2 juvie pullets to me in CA. She's ready to ship my pullets but had me contact my State Vet office to make sure there were no import restrictions in my County currently because of the AI outbreak. We don't have a ban on imported chickens except that the shipped birds have to be tested and certified AI and Newcastles free. This hasn't been the best year for shipping/receiving poultry around the country.
