Dominique Thread!

For the egg color question, comparing my Dominique eggs to the BR eggs from my neighbor, they are not the same color. The BR are the typical tan of the brown eggs you get at the grocery store. Dominique eggs are lighter and more of a pinkish cream/beige. In my opinion, the Dom eggs are much prettier. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the comparison... I have never had the two side by side.

I have Doms and Swedish Flower Hens. The very lightest eggs are my Swedes, the darker are the Doms... But I also get this pink egg laid by one of my Doms that is very pretty!

A picture would be helpful, so thanks for posting. I have 2 Swedish Flower Hens, too, and their eggs are almost identical to my Dom eggs. (My Dom eggs are pretty much like the SFH eggs in your pic.) I can usually tell them apart, though, because the SFH eggs are slightly more pointed and a touch glossier. Ahh, egg variation is just one of the delights of chicken keeping, isn't it?!

Here's a much better picture of actual colors. The top is the color I get from all four of my SFHs (a cream), the bottom is the average color of my Doms eggs (that particular hen almost always spots up her eggs) and the blushy egg is the occasional pink Dom egg we get.
