I have the worst time getting good photos.

So I hear ya! But I have no pointers.

It doesn't help that he's probably the most skittish rooster I own. Zoom's my best friend.

Wait.... The SH might be jumpier. But that's because I need him to stay out of my space. I don't trust him.

Fancy Leghorn breeders actually use ties on their legs...for photos.

So a leg band with strings, and you tie the strings to a stick...or hold the strings...

You still have to train the bird to not panic when it finds itself tied down... but then you can place the bird where you want...with a clean or pretty background, and snap the photo without the bird wandering off.

Ha! So I guess I did have a pointer!

Just a couple of weeks back saw a cool leghorn photo...guy outside with great background sitting in a lazy boy recliner. He had 4 or 6 stunning white leghorn roosters all around him on the chair... so 2 on the back, either side of his head, and 1 or 2 on either arm of the chair.

I looked closely...and yep, they all had little ties on a leg.

We just use treats to get our pics. My flock likes when I sit in my lawn chair & hold treats. When anyone sits in that chair, they come running. In fact, they sit on the chair & wait even when we're not around.

The harder part is taking the pic without getting all the photo bombers in it. Never attempt to take a pic of another chicken when "Precious" is around.

She can get VERY Jealous!

@Faraday40 Bubbles is so lovely! I could only hope one of my Dom girls turns out as nicely. Some may not like Bubbles' comb but she's my ideal -- I mean, what good is a rosecomb without that nifty leader at the back! And love her U-back -- she's not loaded down with a lot of cushion! I agree about the softness of feathers -- my previous Dom was extremely soft and if they don't step on a cecal poop, they have virtually no feather odor.

19 week bantam Dominique. Hatched with dark legs and a tight round white circle on the top of head. Rose comb is small and was slow to developed all pointing to pullet. Question is are the tail feathers that have now developed showing me that despite all this is Daisy really a roo?
