I thought it would be neat to post a group of pics as the bird progressed in age.

Is the g for grins or grams?
The regular weights are
1 & 1/2 oz is a Small
1 & 3/4 0z is a Medium
2 oz is a Large
2 & 1/4 oz is Extra Large
and 2 & 1/2 oz and up is Jumbo

According to my Jiffy scale, my girls are laying medium to large and large. That is, regular medium eggs are 21 ounces a dozen, and mine are 22, almost 23oz a dozen for medium (heavy mediums?), and 24oz for a dozen large.

are those really less than 17 weeks? What do you feed them they are huge and look scrumptious.

Your photos have really been helpful. What a difference in the back as time goes by. So all hope is not lost if you have a youngster with a flat back.. Interesting!

I agree. I have noticed in our younger birds that if they stand upright - almost like their backs are long, but at least they're slanted down, they seem to have much better backs as adults. You can see this in the younger photo of this cockerel as well. This guy really turned out nice

Thanks, everybody! I think the hens' feathers end in black (just a thin little black line) but I'd have to go out and look at them to be for certain. Sometimes it's hard for me to tell. I should take some more pics. I'm happy that their legs turned out to be yellow- when they were younger they had some black on them. I might get some more pullets from the same local breeder who I bought these from since these turned out so well. But if I get another rooster I'll go with a different breeder.

Delight in Dominiques- that is a nice roo! Beautiful. And I love the "progression" photos as well
