Glad to hear your little ones are okay!!! We raise pigs too, and I am done also. We got two new babies and they are now eating my chickens. I am so mad!!! They eat one more of my babies and I will use the shotgun!!!

My big ones about 400 and 500 pounds are very sweet and do nothing except get out come home and let us know where they are... very easy to handle... but these small red ones are making me down right :thun

We just butchered one and had a huge pig roast... we had about 30 people we had a blast!!!

Enjoy all your hard work!!!

I am so glad everyone is okay. That's what I love about a good dog - they will protect their home and their family.

I just wanted to say, I am very glad that you are all okay ..and that you didn't break your hand!

I grew up on a pig farm ..and my Daddy always carried a pistol with him into the pig pens and grazing areas.. always. Pigs can be very dangerous animals!

What time we coming over?

PP, can you and PC stop by and pick me up on your way through?

No problem, we'll bring the whole gang!

Buster, I SOOoooo know where you are with the pig. We have two sows now...they are only about 100 pounds..so we still have some time. They are mean spirited, and have gotten one of my favorite BR hens. They are smart....big...and mean. When we raised our first pig, he was a gentle giant. I will definately raise another, next spring...but will make sure its a boar...NO MORE SOWS! They seem to be meaner...at least, in my experience.....so far.
Glad everyone is safe...and what a great dog!

My pigs are up around 200....

In the couple weeks I installed electric fence to keep them off it. They were really pushing on it and bending it up... And I have a 50 Mile charger for about 100 feet of fence...They don't like the electric...

Couple nights ago I got in the pen (40X16) with them(only 2) to measure them to guesstimate their weight.... They made me nervous at one point when these two thingsstarted pushing on me and tryin to eat my shoes...(could careless on shoe, but I like my feet in the shoes)... I was nervous enough that I figured our I can still jump off one foot and the other get up to the top of the gate(about 42 inches). Thought I might be too old...

I am not sure i have any plans to reenter... I may try again but only with a side arm...

Well, DW's grandpa graciously took the pig to the butcher while I was at work today. It weighed 230 pounds! I am excited because based on my measurements two weeks ago, I figured I'd be lucky if it was 200. I am sooo excited to fill my freezer.
