I know I would have been very upset as well if that was my kids, but I also dont want to give all pigs a bad reputation. We raised 100's when I was younger, even when my oldest was only 5 he was helping in the pen. I cant remember having a mean one. They do better when they arent alone and my grandfather would say that a mean or nibbling pig was vitamin deficient in some way. I have read several accounts on here lately about mean hogs and it puzzles me due to my own exerience. But as said, if it were my kids that hog would be hanging in the butcher shop right now.
How awful! You must have sh** a brick when you saw this. Glad your son and Tess are okay. And I think your DW will find that Tess is an asset. Enjoy the pork.
Just so everyone knows, I am NOT trying to bash pig raising. Just in this situation for what we are doing, we are done with it. We originally bought two but one died while it was still small from pneumonia. Having two of them would have helped the situation I think.
No more worries about it getting out, we just loaded it to go to the butcher tomorrow. It won't be getting out of the trailer in the meantime.
