Done with hatching eggs!

Quote:
You've done better than me! I have yet to hatch any thing in my bator. Out of 5 tries I have never had any thing to hatch at all. That is why i'm a firm believer in broodies.

Nothing cuter then to set a banty hen on duck eggs and watch her Mother her gang, and when they go in a mud puddle, listen to her fuss at them.

This has happened to me. Why fully formed, way passed due and still alive???? Nothing like expecting to see a dead chick and cracking open and egg only to discover a live animal that you have to watch die before your eyes. Stomach floats and then drops. I keep trying though.

I had the same experience as paddock! Np luck until I built my own an changed my humidity and temp! Don't give up, I know it's hard but you have nothing if you don't gain from this experiance!

I have never tried to hatch duck eggs so I can only repeat what I heard.

My uncle was having trouble hatching a breed of ducks; I can't remember which breed.
He has been hatching longer than I've been alive, and I am old,

not as old as dirt, that's my mom.

Well anywho, he found he was drowning them before they hatched. He had to dry hatch until lock down.
I don't know if this helps with your situation?

In a reptipro...use still air temp of 101 gauged by an inside thermometer, not the digital reading. You may have to set the digital around 103 to get a 101 inside at egg level. I believe duck eggs need higher humidity levels & misting. Check the duck forum or do a search here.

Late hatches or in your case, no hatch yet but live chicks/ducklings, mean your temp was too low & they just weren't ready to hatch yet.

Edited to add: Just remembered that you said you were using an auto turner. You have to open the door daily or every other day to allow fresh air in....there is not enough ventilation in the reptipro. I've hatched hundreds of eggs in mine, but it has it's quirks that must be dealt with. Search for "reptipro" here...lots of threads with info.
