Well I guess this is as good as it is going to get until spring time! It's getting too cold to do anything outside if I don't have to. Here's some pictures of my coop that is still in progress....I want to finish some detail work, like trimming the coop, cover the run (somehow), and finish wrapping the hardware cloth around the bottom of the run.

View from my back porch:

The girls' ramp:

I ran string across the top in a random pattern....we had a hawk that kept landing in our yard and hanging out in the trees:

Nesting boxes:

I made the entire side open for easy cleaning and overall coop access:

Just felt I should share....I learned so much from this forum, and this is what it has led me too. I have never built anything before and this was/is an awesome adventure. I learned so much and am still learning...

Thanks BYC community!!

Thanks Nate!
Well, when this coop started "the chickens were all mine" according to the wife....so I had free reign. But after we have had them a while and I started building and painting she now has "suggestions"....we will be giving it another coat of blue and white and then the trim will be a light purple of some sort since "they are girls" as she put it. LOL

Sounds as if your wife is taking an intrest in your girls. Which can be viewed as a good thing for you, or a bad thing. My wife told me the same thing when we started. Now she goes out and socializes with them, gathers eggs, feeds them and such. The kids help her which in the process is teaching them some responsibility. I still have the chore of watering them and cleaning the coop. I always get stuck with the crap jobs somehow???? Still haven't figured out how that happens.

Actually I have tried to find those brace clamps that you used and i cannot find them anywhere. I saw your design a few months back and really wanted to do that. I just don't think it will work with as much distance I have to cover. It doesn;t help that it isn't square either. I wanted to give them as much space as I could. I think it measures 16x13x12.5x12 ft. I will figure something out....I wouldn't mind leaving it like it is if I can put up some boards and fill with sang/gravel mix to help with the drainage.

Yeah she is really getting into it now....maybe she will help me clean it (one of these day) haha. Next year is going to be fun....we are starting some gardening and other things in relation to self-sufficeinxy. My son loves helping with the chickens and already wants rabbits, he is 4 yo.

We found ours at Lowes (for some reason Home Depot didn't carry them)....but I like your run roofing idea!
