Don't get locked in your coop like I did!

I use a hook and eye but my hook has a locking mechanism on it so this can't happen. My DH is so smart! (but this sounds like something I would totally do!)

OMG, that cracked me up, because I locked myself in one of my pens just this morning! First time, too. Sheesh.

WOW!!! This must be catching. Just last night I got a call from one of the wife's good friends. Her and her DH were working in the run. When It came time for him to go to work, he locked her in the run and turned on the electric fence while she remained busy cleaning. I guess he wasn't thinking or was just in a hurry. I had to come back home and get my bolt cutters as we could not find the key. I would have hated to be in his shoes when he got home this morning. I don't know what she would have done should she not have had her cell phone with her.

And I thought I was the only one!

Did this last year in dead of winter. Stood out in the cold shouting for what seemed like forever hoping my husband or son would hear me. But noooo, they were in the warm house getting ready to eat pizza and watching TV. When I finally decided they were not coming I crawled thru the poop door and into the lot undoing a temporary fence devideing the lot before I could get out. When I finally arrived at the back door with poop on my knees and back I was hopping mad. My husband is staring at me like a deer in headlights, I am screaming at him " How long does one have to be missing for you to come look for them!" He says " When you go out to see those chickens I never know how long you will stay". He doe's have a point. Now he will stick his head out the door and give me a shout out if I am gone awhile!!

i locked my self out too last week i have a piece of wood on the door frame you turn it to keep the door closed when you shut it . i went in the coop and when i wanted to come out i was locked in. luckily i had a screwdriver in the coop and could pry the door just enough to knock the wood up to get out,

I've locked my wife in this very same way several times! Not on purpose (really!), but it's just instinct that when I come out to throw the latch. She is never impressed and has yet to see the humor in it that I do.

And dang if I didn't go out this morning while I was half asleep and I went in to check for eggs and .... I didn't make sure the hook was swinging down. I didn't get stuck in there but man! I guess I didn't learn my lesson. I shouldn't go out there so early any more. Oh, and I don't get a cell phone signal out there so that's useless. I'm going to make sure I have a way to unlatch that if I get locked in there til I can get a bolt on there.

lol, thats funny. my bf has locked me in the run by accident, he was about 100 feet away by the time i noticed (almost in the house!) luckily he wasnt quite in the door and i yelled and he came back!
