don't know if I have splash ameraucanas - looking for pics

I hatched some eggs that were supposed to be pure bred Ameraucanas, but some of the chicks look like EEs due to the stripes down the back. I'm guessing they're probably Splash Ameraucanas...

does anyone have a picture of a splash ameraucana baby chick for comparison?

I can't find any since it's not recognized in the breed.

I don't think Splash would have stripes, they should be a light greyish/white color I think.

Nope. SW chicks won't have stripes or look like chipmunks. Sounds like you either got EEs or some other breed. SW chicks will look just like W or BW. You won't even be able to tell the difference for 4-6 weeks if I remember right. There are pics of 1-3 day chicks on my website under the "Babies" album.

Please send me a personal email on who you got these supposed "pure bred Ameraucanas" from. I'm guessing I know who but would like to verify.

Edited to say: Ooops, my bust. I just read your post again and see you said Splash vice Splash Wheaten. However, while I really don't know anything about the other varieties since I don't breed or show them, I'm fairly confident in saying the information I mentioned above still holds true. I'm all but positive it is. Still like to know who sent you those eggs too.

Splash should look like it does in any other variety. I have splash orps, rocks, and cochins- they all start out a fuzzy grey/blue/white/pale yellow, and wing feathers come in on the white or with a really really pale blue tint.

I realize that I definitely bought easter egger eggs off of a person claiming to have pure bred Americaunas.

I guess this happens a lot.

For anyone buying Ameraucana eggs off ebay, don't buy from davis-farms.
