Let me try to be perfectly clear. Calm down. I was not accusing you of blasting anyone. The purpose of my post was to inform and educate others who might read your comments to conclude that all Ameraucana breeders and/or egg sellers were dishonest and I wanted them to know that was not the case.

The purpose of my edited comments was to simply let others know that I didn't say that to toot my own horn or point others to me but rather to say that I'm not the only one who's honest and folks can get what they see.

I can't speak to the folks on eBay because I don't go there looking for eggs. Maybe that's why they're on eBay instead of BYC. Who knows? I have seen the "blue light" thing on BYC as well but at least the folks on here pretty well police themselves and anyone not legit doesn't stick around long.

I obviously offended you and I sincerely apologize for not being clearer with my comments. Emails and posts often miss the "tone" that is trying to be conveyed. I hope this clears things up.

God Bless,

Sorry, I felt like you were taking my words out of context.

I think I definitely took it the wrong way and I guess my tone was pretty harsh.

I apologize.

I'm glad to see that we understand each other better now and are on the same page.

I decided to research this breed thouroughly before I get started in raising them . Sadly there seems to be much misleading information still being put out and part of this is due to the very origins of the blue egg layers , a group of three mongrel hens differing greatly in type or appearence that were imported from South America . I'm not sure if more blue egg layers were imported later or not , but these three hens were bred to different roos . The earliest mention I've found referred to them as Chilieans [ sp? ] , but later they are called Araucanas in Europe or the USA or Ameraucanas here in the USA with SOPs [ Standard of Perfections ] written to settle on color and body type . The UK has an Araucana but their SOP is very different than the one accepted by the American Pultry Assc . Another UK breed is the Cream Legbar which is an autosexing variety which is pretty uniform in color and type but looks nothing like the other breeds of blue egg layers . Unfortunately many refer to any blue egg layer as an Araucana or Ameraucana or Americana , and may not be doing so as to intentionally mislead . I see " Silkie Splash Ameraucanas " posted on here and I'm sure that was not an attempt to mislead . However , inorder to get these new colors , feather type , etc. , requires the introduction of other breeds [ rarely a sport or mutation ] .

Thats not to say that there are not those who do intentionally mislead ; wording such as " we breed strictly to the SOP " does not mean necessarily that they are achieving their breeding goals "

[ or even know how to get there ] . However the introduction of new blood makes a breed that is already carrying very diverse genetics even more difficult to accurately predict it's offspring . The diverse genetics in Ameraucana I refer to is that inorder to arrive at the few accepted colors , different outside breeds were used ......... making a White Ameraucana only a very distant cousin to say a Blue or a Wheaton . Then too , different breeders may have arrived at the their line of Wheaton , Black , White , etc. using very different stock ; crossing two of these lines may be a disaster as far as getting offspring that fit the SOP . I wish someone would have explained all of this to me , but instead I've had to dig deep to find out what little I yet know about it . I'm sure some information will be gleaned only by the experience of purchasing some birds and doing my own breeding , and I'm looking forward to it .
