I wrote "fresh feed". Your are taking advice only partially making it potentially ineffective.

Always check date codes on the bottom of your bags *before* you buy them. Most stores put the old stuff on top of the new stuff, so check bags that came in on the last pallet. Places like Tractor Supply get their feed weekly, so insist on getting the feed that came most recently. Just a few days ago they tried to sell me bags that were four months old, but I asked them to get the fresh stuff, and after a little bad attitude from them, they did.
