Spurs don't begin to develop until after 6 months of age. All chickens have spur buds. Some roosters never grow spurs. And some hens will grow spurs just as long as any rooster. It's not a reliable indicator of gender.Yes I do know this but with them being the same age and breed and differ from each other so much then the other has to be a rooster! They were both hatched the same day! Him and my other rooster don't get along and I have plans for my jersey giant rooster when I was hoping that everyone else were hens!
