Hi. Thought I'd see what some of the expert folks on this thread think about my young speckled sussex. I got two of them as chicks this May. They're now 16 weeks old. I haven't seen any obvious cockerel behaviors from "Bernadette" and the few previous times I had young roos I somehow knew quite early--the biggest clue being how fast their feet were growing in comparison to the others and the way they stood. Haven't had that gut feeling with Bernie, but s/he's bigger than my other sussex, with a more pronounced comb and much more white around the face and throughout the feathering. I hope these pics are good enough to help assess. They move so fast and my phone camera is slow, so it's hard to get good ones. There's one with both of them in the shot for comparison (Francis in front and Bernadette in back), and in the others I tried to show her side and tail area. I just can't tell if those are saddle feathers. Any input appreciated. Do you think her namesake needs to switch from saint to senator?

I would like to know what breed these are please. I already know what sex they are because they're laying eggs. all I know about their breed is that they're bantams.
