Usually cats won't attack chickens. It mainly depends on the cat and the size of the chicken. Welcome to BYC!

my cat would grab a chick by itself, but my cats fear the big bird. They think of a chick like a regular bird, then suddenly there are birds as big as them??? My cats fear chickens.

chicks are small and pretty much defenseless - just the kind of treat cats like to prey on.

Hello and Welcome To BYC! X4, cats, especially feral cats, can and will kill chickens and chicks. You should use hardware cloth, not chicken wire on your coop, chicken wire is not very strong and other predators like racoons can break right though it.

I wouldn't take the chances with cats as things do happen. Never use chicken wire to protect your birds. It can be chewed thru very easily by night time predators. Hardware cloth is much preferred.
