Don't let fertile hatching eggs sit at room temp for too long?

I bought eggs over the weekend, hoping that both orders would arrive today. Wouldn't you know it, only one set arrived today (holiday season delays, I'm sure.) I'm going to delay setting them until tomorrow night in hopes the other set will arrive tomorrow, and i can put them both in at the same time. I thought I remembered reading somewhere that it is better to store hatching eggs in the refrigerator instead of keeping them at room temperature, but now I can't find the article and I can't find anything on here about that. Is this true? Also, I need to turn the eggs a few times a day, too, right?
Thanks for the forum's patience with my n00b questions.

I keep my hatching eggs in the basement on the cement ledge,(old house) its about 55 degrees there this time of year. Just keep in cartons and tip cartons a few times a day by putting something under 1 side of carton. Yes you can keep them in the fridge but for a few days I would just keep them in a cool spot. Unless your house is 80 or 90 degrees I wouldnt worry about it.

I left some sitting in my living room for a week, and forgot about them! I remembered about them this weekend, and cracked one open to see if it was rotten...it had started to develop! AAUUUGGHHH!! The room temperature was between 65-75 degrees...

You shouldnt put them in the fridge this has been known to lower fertilty in eggs !! Keeping them 55-60 is fine.

Eggs cant start to develop in till incubated by either a hen or an incubator at 100.

I've kept my eggs just on my kitchen counter for two days waiting for more eggs and almost all hatched and were fine. I wouldn't worry...just keep them in the coolest part of the house

Good luck with them and hope you get your other batch tomorrow.

I put all my hatching eggs in the refrigerator until I'm ready to put them in the bator. I don't do that for eggs that I ship to others but my experience is 100% hatches for eggs that have been refrigerated for up to 10 days. Remember the average fridge temp is about 45 degrees.
