My girls LOVE going in there, for all the wonderful bugs and yummy weeds. Especially the sandy spot under the fence.
Well, their lil misfit silkie roo buddy tries to keep up with them and loves to just hang around watching.
Supper/bedtime ... everyone wants in. Girls are running for the coop and horses running to the gate...
Lil Alfie never made it. Being stepped on by a 1200lb animal is instant death.
Please keep your pets/birds away from that sort of danger.
Don't make my mistake.

Thats to bad. Sorry you lost the chicken.

My grandfather kept silkies with his buffalo and never had a problem.
He had Buffalo, silkies, pygmy goats, and pot-bellied pigs all in the
same pasture.

Oh, man, that is too bad- I am SO sorry- I have worried about that myself, but my horses are all older and amble in to supper, the chickens move much faster- RIP Alfie!

They've been doing this for 2 yrs now. My QH is going on 28 yrs old! I never even thought of it. Most days the girls are scratching in the same pile of hay my mare is eating from!
Just blows me away. All the shoulda, coulda's I keep running around in my head just don't matter anymore, my girls will not go back there unless the horses are inside, period. I know it's probably a fluke (and the fact that silkies can't fly or run well) but, I wanted to warn others. This really hurts, as the lil misfit was more of a pet to all of us, and never made noise or trouble...
