Could you set up a trap in the scrubland beside your house or something? Wonder whether a coyote foot trap (not sure of correct name) would work?
I'm loathe to purchase a box/cage-style trap for something that large. Online they range from $200-ish to well over $300. Which is absolutely ridiculous. In stores around here that are priced way higher. I don't know enough about foot hold traps to feel comfortable using them, although I'm 100% confident if someone experienced came out with some I can point out every game trail she uses. I've prowled around out there enough to know. It actually stumped me that one of the missing birds is unaccounted for. Usually I know exactly where to go to confirm she got one.
Have you tried electric fencing???? It helped when we had raccoons attacking. I have 8 foot fence and they were entering from top so we put our electric perimeter up high
I haven't yet. Their pens sit a ways out from the house and of course while there used to be electric in the barn, there isn't any now, so I'd have to get solar powered or run something from the house. Which knowing the electric/breaker box, would probably blow it. They wired the house like idiots. I'm in the process of building fully enclosed breeding pens for all the birds, bar the geese and large breed ducks. They'll have access to the barn which I can lock up at night. But the Orpingtons and all the other birds will be entirely enclosed with hardware cloth and metal. But I am only one person, can only work so fast, and put aside so much money for purchasing materials.

I totally understand…..material prices like everything else have gone crazy!!!! And labor especially in this heat……and forgive me for not remembering your location but here bobcat sightings are technically recommended to be reported to dnr because we don’t have a legal season for them even though populations are growing out of control. Would they be of any help?

I'm in Texas.

They are super common and not protected. This heifer has kittens too. I've seen their little toebean prints in the mud after a rain. Much too young to be helping mom hunt yet, but I'm super over them. Like I was so upset last night I was debating selling everything.

I'm listening to this guy talk right now...

Said something along the lines of if you exercise every single day it improves your cardiovascular health which in turn improves your carbohydrate and fat metabolism rates... Which is why people like Conan can eat what she wants.
