under the thermometer, there are paper towels throghout the channel that are barely moist.
The blue stuff are sponges cut up to about 3/4 inch strips and placed in the water channels.
The plastic tubs on upper side of window are holding water and two whole sponges to wick moisture.
I took the red plugs out earlier this am. Now the readings show temp of 99 and humidity of 73......Perhaps take out one of the containers....and keep the paper towels 'barely damp"
sounds better. I had one batch where I got panicky and listened to everyone who said moisture moisture, and drown out a batch with too much moisture. I cut back on each hatch since and hatches are getting better and better.
So I have been playing with both baters today....last off day from work until next wednesday!....then only a few hours each day to play...
The incubator is solid at 99 temp very seldom going to 100 temp. The humidity is 16 and it seems to have remained at that since before they were put in.
(all eggs are developing with appropriate air sacs....one though I think has stopped developing as compared to the other 3 set on the same day but not sure)
The hatching bator has 99 temp or 100 sometimes.
I am just trying to play with humidity to get it to 65 and find it's happy place.....water in chambers, sponges in chambers as pics are shown.
I took out the paper towels and put aluminum foil on large outer chamber and turned up edges to place 2 more sponges on opposite ends to raise humidity....ALSO have BOTH red plugs in!
humidity is 62.......
I am not arrg over the humidity I am arrg at myself for not still airing 101/ I pretty much kept it at 99/100. The seem to be doing good. absorbing in their egg. and getting closer to the internal pip look I like to see.
I saw a heart beat in one of the eggs that I set on Tuesday! (5 days in).....it was really visable!....NEATO!!!!.....
first batch 15 days in....i think one is not cookin anymore
second batch 10 days in....lookin good so far!
third batch 5 days in.....the heart beat really visable before I turned the egg!....really exciting.....other lookin good too
