A wet paper towel will dry out fast..do you have a clean sponge, or dish towel? soak it, which ever you have that you know for sure is clean. It isn't too late to stick it in there.
Good luck! I will be going through this in about two and half weeks. My first time doing ducks.

My first time doing ducks too!! What kind? I used a paper towel so it wont be too humid and if it need more humidity I will use this giant syringe I have and re-wet it through the breathing holes

I'm gona throw in my two cents here. i think that's fantastic that you veteran duck raisers know all this stuff about ducks. I go on these post just to get your advice. But you need to give us rookies a break. I (like many others) did hours if not days, not five minutes of research, on these little guys but still had no clue what kind of mess I was in for. I think ducks and geese are something that you really need to experience in order to know.

See lilchick..it's because your post is one of many that has helped me decide I probably shouldn't keep my baby ducks. Makes me sad even now, because I know I will fall in love with them as soon I see one of them. But, I have to be realistic..I only have a back yard, I'm not one of the lucky ones with a huge piece of property to be able to enjoy ducks, geese, chickens, and everything else I love that I won't mention here..

I know I could love living on a farm. Anyway, after reading up on the ducks, I have already posted them for sale, what ever hatches. I have 7 viable eggs right now. Boy, had a guy that lives just up the canyon from us that has oodles of property, with ducks, geese and chickens..that wants them. He says, let me know when they hatch, I'll come get them. I'm so happy they are going to a big place.
I can tell that I wouldn't be able to keep up with "the mess" I keep reading about. LOL..there have been many warnings..of "the mess." So, I figured, best find them a good home. Welsh Harlequins..they will be bred too! This line shall go on!

I dont live on a big property at all, I live on a canal so that takes up space, also i have this huge pool deck which takes up more than half the yard..but i still manage with 8 ducks and TONS on the way, and 2 chicken, 2 dogs, 3 turtles 12 fish 2 bunnies 2 lizards and a sister!! I MANAGE!!

It was the smell and the noise.

We got diapers from Nettie....unfortunately the diapers don't reach their beaks to shut them up! LOL.

I will post pictures once my furniture is back against the wall, we are fixing and painting slowly, so it's not suitable for our indoor ducks.

I am soo nervous its day 27 and I don't hear any peeping and I don't see the eggs moving around at all. I hope at least 1 of the 4 will make it
