hey guys so i made a huge mistake that is sure result in a dead gosling fairly soon. i was watching him unzip nd after a while i thought he stopped so i peeked in under the shell and panicked thinking he had shrink wrapped. so i unpeeled the shell over the air cell but saw veins so i put him back in the incubator overnight after applying cocont oil. this morning he hdnt come any further bt the veins receded so i freed him up a bit more. then after a few hours i helped him out all the way after seeing he absorbed his yolk. well he had absorbed the yolk but there was still some blood in the veins in the membrane. he didnt bleed at all tho. he was shaking in the incubator and wouldnt lift his head. but once fluffy he really had a lot of energy peeping and trying so hard to walk. i dont understand whats wrong with him i know i shouldve left him be but just dont understand how not absobing a small amountof blood could make him act like that. if it was lsos of blood wouldnt he be just tired and listless? his head was not under his wing in the egg.

Every 20 minutes give it 2 drinks of warm sugar water. Keep the gosling warm and dry.
They act half dead after assisting but there's a chance it could still make it with your help.

next time incubate or buy more than you want...obviously, they don’t all make it but most of them do...

i had 2 others hatch thamkfully so everyone who made it to lockdown made it.

ive been giving him a concoction of crushed b vitamins, molasses, vit e, and probiotics with water. but i dont want to drown him. i know how to drench chickens but cant find anything aboutgoose throats. ive squirted some into his mouth tho most comes back up

I don't squirt anything into their mouths. I dip the tip of their beak in the sugar water and gently tip their head up, like they naturally would do if they had the strength to drink water on their own.

Well here's still alive this morning and hes finally taking some of the molasses water. Still didn't look good tho. I'm afraid this will be several days of him suffering. I still want to give him a chance tho.

He shakes a lot too. What is this he's dealing with? Just simple blood loss?

Often when you have to help there is something wrong with the chick or gosling. There is a reason it was not able to hatch by itself. Did you have to help? I don't know, I wasn't there looking at it. About half the ones I help don't make it. And it can be hard to decide when they need help.

The way I give chicks a sugar water booster is to use a medicine dropped and put a drop on the tip of the beak. It's a slow process but they drink it without drowning themselves.

Good luck!

We decided to put him out of his misery. We waited to see if vitamins and minerals in his water would help but he got worse and worse and would shiver and shake and just could not stand on his feet he'd immediately fall to his side and paddle his feet. When it looked like fluid was coming out of his mouth and he became more weak we decided it was time.

His navel was totally healed, he absorbed all his yolk and he had a lot of energy so I don't understand what was wrong.

I have a duck who has the same problem. What's the kindest way to put him out of his misery? :(
