On day 13 of incubating, I candled the eggs and all six were fine. (There was a seventh and eighth that died, but they were in the refrigerator for a time. It was kind of an experiment.) Today is day 14. But when we candled them, there were healthy moving embryos inside but on both sides it looks like there are air cells, though on the pointy end (yes we set them pointy end down) there is a more normal sized one and on the other side there is a half centimeter white area. Instead of putting them pointy end down in storing we flipped them up and down. (Was that responsible?) On the internet my mom read that. (Don't question the mother! I couldn't see why not so I didn't.) What is really happening? Why? Will the eggs hatch? Mom says she hasn't found anything on the internet about this at all.

I just realized the thing on the pointy end is the albumen and the air cell is in the right place. Nvm. But are you supposed to flip or turn eggs when storing them for hatching. Our eggs are normal. Guess I'm on the edge worrying that the eggs won't hatch since we already botched two. And haven't hatched any. (One upsideown eggs, other unplugged incubator. Now we closely monitor it though regularly and figured out pointy end down.)

No flipping...Turn right to left or left to right but same direction. Mark the sides with X & O so you know how much you've turned. My incubator the eggs are put on their side, as was the one I had years ago. What kind incubator do you have? Pointy side down cause the air cell developed on the wide side, if that's how yours work. Candle 7th, 14th, 18th day then lockdown...No more turning & get your humidity up but then again follow the instructions you have for your incubator.

Brinsea Octagon. We put them pointy end down instead of lying them on their sides.

five out of six Buckeye eggs hatched! And boy do they hatch healthy. They hatched within two hours of pipping!
