I built it out of scrap lumber, various items on hand, and a plywood skid.

Each level is approx 20" deep x 40" wide x 20-24" of head room. Just about perfect for two puppy pads for easy clean up.

For now all I have is a light for heat but works well. It's hung from the ceiling and I adjust the temperature by adding or subtracting a carabiner.

The top is going to be my starter for day olds. When I have another hatch I'll move the older chicks to the lower section and new chicks to the upper. With a light in the lower section the heat rises and warms the upper brooder.

So far testing with just a 60 watt bulb on the upper floor the temp has been about 92 on the coldest night in the garage. Ambient was about 48. Adding the lower light brought the upper floor temp to about 105 so I had to raise the upper light to put the chics in.

I'll continue making improvements.
