Double Eyed Train Feather!

How would you make that a variety? I mean sure you can tell if the peacock has double eyes but what about the peahens?

So for line breeding I would need his parents? I think he came from either the zoo or free-range this ladies house. I was thinking it would be a cool new variety...It would be variety definitely worth having.

Clinton9 you did a great job on putting that in perspective! I was wondering what a peacock would look like with all double eyes. Soo cool!

Peahens of Double-eyed IB peafowls will be 100% alike to normal IB peahens, so only way is to mark the peahens, with rings on legs.
White-eyed IB peafowls had readly existed, so I'm not brothered putting white eyes on other IB peacock in displaying.
Double-eyed peafowls don't exist yet, plus Alto is yet to look for a girlfriend. Alto's girlfriend Pips is dead.
Alto disliked Ice and will chase her off the feeding box.

Ok. First you will need great records. Keep all birds wing band. Line breed .breed him back to his daughters.them his granddaughter. Then see if his sons have double eyes. Will take many years. U r at a good age to work on it. The hens only way to know it good records.

Plus don't forget about existing mutations...Purple, Midnight, Buford Bronze, Cameo, Opal etc.

If Alto do have train feathers with double eyes in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th adult plumages at 3 to 6th year of age, that could means he may be carrying the genes for double eyes.

But only if MinxFox buy 3 more IB peahens for Alto, to breed.

Well I guess I could just go ahead and try. It will be some work but it certainly would be interesting to get a new variety. I will have to get started on keeping good records and maybe I could get some peahens from the same person I got Alto from. Thanks everyone it sure would be cool to see this become a new variety.

My parents are up for it and my mom thinks it is a cool idea.

That sounds really unique deerman, he sounds like he was very beautiful!

Okay well it has been raining a lot but the rain let up and the sun came out and I got the photos you have all been waiting for!!! I noticed a few other feathers were a little different looking but I didn't see another that was 2 in 1.

Do I need to say which one it is? Lol

In the middle of some of these large eye feathers was another strange looking one. It is kinda hard to see.
