Double wall waterer

I just got my first "flock" of 8 chicks put out in their brand new "Chicken Majal" and put out their brand new double wall waterer. Could NOT get it to stop leaking out, so took it back to Murdochs and exchanged it for another one. Same darn thing happens-- it leaks out in about 24 hours. What the heck am I doing wrong?

Do you have a picture of the waterer? Maybe somebody will be able to tell you how to fix it if they see a picture. Have fun with your flock!

We probably have the same waterer because I bought mine from Murdoch's recently too. I've never had a problem with it, so I'm not sure how to help you. I'll try by asking some dumb questions first.

Are you filling the chamber at least half full? Idk if it matters, but mine seems to do better the more full it is.

Are you putting the top on as quickly as you can once it's filled? The water just pours out without the top to make a vacuum seal.

Are you latching the top correctly? There's a little angled slot in the top that fits over a pin in the bottom that keeps it latched together.

That's all I can think of, and sorry if I insulted your intelligence.

Oh, and is it hanging or sitting on the ground? If it isn't level, I suppose that could make it leak easier.
