Double yolk, now can’t walk and no egg for 3 days

Working with her this morning we have some improvement. The left leg is still back, but the right one is now under her body and she appears to be trying to put pressure on it. Hopefully the other comes back soon.
How is her left eye, still closed? How is her left wing held compared to the one on her right side?

I was wondering if she might have suffered a stroke trying so hard to push this monstrous egg out.

Still closed 90% of the way like the photo I shot earlier. I agree, seems to be a correlation there. ☹️

Maybe you could carefully try to open her left eye to see if her pupil will react to a torch light?
Pupil reacts after opening her eyelid and comparing, seems same as open eye. The eyelid had a kind of film on it, appears to be opening about 50% now so better than before.
Left wing appears to function as well as right wing, so mainly just the leg problem and 50% eye.

Keep giving the calcium.

If you want to try the aspirin as noted above you may want to double check the dose by doing a search. Normal advice here is a half baby aspirin for a full size chicken.

I think you're thinking 1/4 regular 325mg (regular) aspirin for one serving if you're doing 1/2 in the morning 1/2 in the evening, (1/4 * 325 = 81mg) for an average 6lb chicken.

Normal aspirin dose is 25mg per pound of chicken per day. A baby aspirin is 81mg, so one WHOLE baby aspirin per 3lbs of chicken per day. So I suppose we'd be looking at 2 baby aspirin per day for a 6 pound chicken. I always round up to 3 partially because in my mortar/pestle some always gets stuck in the grooves- and if it's given in a treat, they may not eat the entire treat. If I'm giving it via feeding tube, I still round up to 3 to round up for any lost in the grinding/transfer process, and anything that sticks inside the syringe.

Now that I'm looking around BYC there are varying opinions.
I was going by this as an animal per pound dose. But I know from the avian vet that chickens metabolize meds quickly.

Aspirin For Dogs Dosage

The proper dose of Aspirin for dogs is roughly: 4 milligrams per 1 pound of body weight, (or 4 mg/lb).

Aspirin can be given every 12 hours (twice a day), not to exceed 2-3 days duration unless directed by a veterinarian.

The recommended dosage for dogs taking human aspirin is between 5 mg’s and 10 mg’s per pound of body weight, given twice a day (once every 12 hours).

And the aspirin dose for a goat is 325mg for every 10 lbs of body weight. So 20 regular aspirin for a 200lb goat. Yes, really.

My point here is the 25mg per lb of chicken per day is on here from a number of trusted sources. My initial answer of 3 baby on a daily basis was technically high- my bad- but I've also administered that dose to a number of chickens over the years with no ill effects, probably because the dose they wind up getting is closer to the 2/day by the time it's crushed and distributed and ingested.

Of course administer whatever you are comfortable with to your chickens, and closely follow what your vet recommends for dogs.

Thanks for the dosage help on the aspirin.

Appear to be improving a bit this morning, she is now trying to move that left leg that was completely limp at the hip joint. Knee and ankle joint aren’t quite cooperating yet.

I put her in a makeshift sling to try to get some of her body weight off of the leg so she can play and move it around on her own. Hopefully it helps.

Nice set up!! Poor girlie! I'm glad she's showing some movement- hopefully it's the nerve starting to settle down following the mondo egg episode. Excellent job!

Little update after the weekend - she is trying to move a bit more and utilizing a tripod stance when out of the cage. Still doesn’t want to put weight on the left leg...if I touch where her hip is in that area she screams so not a great idea...at least she can move it up a bit for now.
