Well I had a jumbo white eggs 3 weeks ago and that hen always lays jumbo eggs so I set it in the incubator never thinking a double yolker, had never had a double from her in the past at day 8 I candled and saw 2 chicks talked to a few bcyers some said cull because of possable major birthdefects that you would have to cull later some said give it a shot see what happens but you will have to help them hatch. Well the egg pipped yesturday afternoon and i couldn't open the bator to help it i had five other eggs pipped or zipping so this morning I go down to pack my husbands lunch and expecting them to still be in the egg or dead, tatdaaaaa! two chickies that seem to be perfect walking fine churping away! so jumbo egg mama made an egg big enough for two chickie to be just fine! and of course I know pics!

the two that are fluffed out! half leghorn (hen) and roo could be ee or bcm the one doesn't have a dark spot on its back its just a shadow from the angle of pic

so far 9 chicks two eggs are pipped right now but im thinking my three olive eggs in there are infertile i can candle bcm but i cant see into my olive eggs so i left them just in case

Im glad I left the egg be I was very close to culling it at 8 days I never wanted to have something grow and be in pain or die before hatching because of something i did by letting it grow like a science project and it was hard not to help them because i read a lot how one chick might survive but the other will not because it doesnt pip and I was nervous the egg shell has its break line but i see from the window the lower half of the egg had a pip hole too!

Wow that's amazing....I have a hen that lays a huge egg with doulbe yolkers all the time and I've wondered this very thing. Not sure I'm brave enough to try it. Thanks for sharing:)Congratulations.

Congrats!

I had a double hatch with quail. I think they might still be alive, not sure as all our quail look the same (and we've had a few die) but it's pretty neat seeing them come out together and knowing you have "twins" I have a hen who will lay large eggs and we know they are doubles, may have to try it, but I to dislike the thought of them dying.
