Dorothy, an 11 month old white and black chicken that lays light azure blue eggs (both pictured), has laid plenty of double yolkers... But at least two have had a noticeable delineation in the shell where it's like her body added on a caboose to the egg to make even more room than usual! (See photo) Any thoughts on if this shell "addition" would make hatching two chicks from one egg more viable?
I have a Barred Rock rooster that just started crowing that I need to re-home, unfortunately, due to rules in my locality... But before he goes, I bought an incubator and plan on getting a few offspring baking! (Hopefully. And yes, I realize I may be re-homing more roosters in about 23 weeks.) P.s. Warning - I am a totally new chicken mama, so feel free to state the seemingly obvious, as I am most likely... oblivious. ;-)

Hi and welcome 😁
Don’t quote me on this because I’m probably wrong, but I always thought it was very rare to hatch a double yolker because of limited space for 2 chicks to develop 🤷‍♀️ Also wouldn’t a double shell make it harder to hatch? Like I said don’t quote me, this is just my logic 🤣

The shell link did not mention the abnormality I have pictured, did it? It did answer a couple of my other brown egg abnormality questions! :)

That egg cracked while shell was forming then 'repaired' with further shelling.
Open it up, might be more to see.

Do not try to hatch double yolkers, it just doesn't work 99.98% of the time.
