My newest baby quail started laying a few weeks ago and today I was making eggs, and found not one but two double yolkers(from the past 2 days).
Is this common for some quail? Never had any doubles before and two in the eggs from two days. I've got a special little lady!

If you get a bird that lays double yolk eggs, they are likely to do it again.

It might happen again or it might not. For mine a couple coturnix laid doubles for their third or fourth egg and never again, a few weeks old sounds like it might be more common than that though. One Wyandotte hen my friend had laid a double yolk nearly every other day for several weeks this spring.

I would like that. I'd love eggs this big every day! I'll have to figure out for sure which little lady it is, I have a guess, so I can get specifically her eggs to hatch next round(obviously will try to get some that are not double yolk for hatching, but her eggs are 1/3-1/2 bigger than the rest).

They're not going to happen every day, but they might happen as often as every other day until they settle into their egg laying routine. After that you might get one once in a while. I kind of feel sorry for my birds when they lay those monsters. That's got to hurt.

Day 4. Looks like another. Yesterday's was, cracked it this morning.
