Double yolkers

About once a fortnight one of my ex battery hens lays an enormous egg. It is about the size of a duck egg, and a double yolker. This has only been happening this summer, after having the hen for 3 years. Any ideas anyone?

Double yolkers happen occasionally. Especially as birds begin or approach the end of a lay cycle. If it's only once a fortnight then I would not be concerned.
