Are there certain breeds of chickens that lay double yolks? Is it genetic or just a freak occurrence with some hens?

I don't think it's genetic at all, just a thing hat happens while the hen s still figuring out the whole egg thing.

If it were genetic, it would be a difficult line of chickens to perpetrate. The double yolkers won't hatch, except for extremely rarely. So rarely as to be almost never.

No, any breed can lay double yolk eggs. It's pretty much just an "accident" during the process of laying the egg. But like Oregon Blues said, very few double yolkers hatch.

Any breed can lay double yolks when young, however, because it is a glitch from too quick of production process, - Sex Links are the most prone to laying double yolkers, since they're made specifically for super egg production.
