Dowsing Info Any successes or suggestions?

Writer - I'm scheduling myself for this weekend. I need a quiet time to immerse myself into the instructions - I have all the materials but after the holidays, well you know...

Will definitley let you know how it goes...

Great thanks! I just spent today making 50 sets of the L-Rods,,, the bobbers and y rods are a little harder. I need to find a source for simple pendulums for my class. I'm looking forward to getting back into it, I need this break in my psyche.

Writer- do you look for natural products for your Y rods? That seems to make more sense to me.

Another Q - I know I have water under my back yard due to the fact that we have curly branches on our trees on the perimeter of our property, and we have a pump there for my sprinklers, knowing this, will this mess with me? I can go to the other part of the yard to start off with....?

You have to be very specific as to what you are asking. If you ask:
Is there water here? Instead of Is there water within 10 feet of the surface that is a natural supply? You'll get everything from well water to underground aquifers and sewer lines. You have to be very very specific so you don't get confused. I do prefer natural materials but sometimes you can't get them. My own rods are copper and my favorite Y-rod is a flexible plastic. Sometimes I'll just go out and cut a y-rod or use a fishing pole backwards for a bobber.

Is it off target to see dowsing as a sort of Ouija board with just a pendulum or two sticks ?

The rods conducting energy from the magnetism of the planet, yes. Its in the Foxfire book series I believe it. My grandfather found our well with two copper wires if I remember correctly. But what I quite clearly remembered is that he said that his spirit guide helped him.

I hate to turn this into a supernatural discussion, but dont you basically do the same thing with a Ouija board, ask yes or no questions. Or use a chart with which various paraphrases can be picked ?

I got the book from my Paperbackswap.com and it is a really good book!

I'm so glad you're enjoying it! Once you finish I'd love to know your opinon on how factual the author is about dowsing. The whole time I was reading it I was fascinated, but at the same time was wondering how realisitic it is since it is a fiction book. In his other books I get the sense that he does a lot of research, but maybe he's just a good faker! A lot of people feel that this is one of his weaker books so if you like it, you'll probably really like some of his others. I've only read a couple others and loved them all.

I don't see it as anywhere near an Ouija board. We aren't asking spirits questions, or dear Aunt Velda to come visit. Your grandfather may have very well asked his spirit guide for help especially if he is Native American descent. But you have to remember a spirit guide is quite a different thing from a utensil like a board asking for the spirit of deceased person to contact you.

Don't worry about supernatural discussions, I have no problem with that at all. What I will say and everyone on here knows I am very straightforward, is this: If any arguments start about religious beliefs vs supernatrual or whatever I will have this shut down immediately. I do not believe in feeding the trolls and flaming because of strong opinions.

I enjoy dowsing, I love to see others learn it, but I will never push my thoughts and beliefs down anyone's throat or allow another person to do that on a thread I started.

I'm just going by what Ive seen on television (oh how I hate to say that). People walking around with dowsing rods asking questions inside a reportedly haunted house. I mean if I read Letters to Robin correctly, when the gentleman says "Is there anyone here ?" and the wires cross its the programing saying "Duh ! Your cameraman is here."

Honestly Ill shut up now on this thread as my questions aren't helping anyone except my curiosity, and its a bottomless hole that can ask questions till Im blue in the face.

I belong to the Gold Prospectors Association Of America. Many gold prospectors use dousing to find gold. I have used it to some success.
Some guys use a topo map of the area and a pendulum (or plumbob) to find a good area to start the search. THen when they get there they resort to dousing rods to pinpoint where to dig.

You either can or can't douse. I don't understand why, just some people don't have the knack for it.

The other thing is not to "try". Just let it happen. Don't overthink it. ignore the rods, eyes forward, think about what you want to find, and slowly walk, ask out loud "show me the (fill in the blank)"
Be specific though, "is the gold two feet deep?" if you get no indcation..."is the gold 1 foot deep?" if they cross then you know it's between 1 and 2 feet deep etc...

It's fun

Hello fellow GPAAer! I'm also LDMA! I feel for those it doesn't work for they either try and force it, or more often they don't believe in it and trying to prove either to themselves it does, or someone else it doesn't work. Yeah, that tv show where they are dowsing for paranormal activity has really given true dowsing a bad name.

Yes I've dowsed on claims,, yes it worked.
