Is anybody else getting messages from dr_lukanov requesting the use of your "with photos without copwrites"?

Here's a copy of the message:
"Hello,
my name is Hristo Lukanov and I'm a veterinary doctor and a specialist of poultry husbandry and breeding. I'm writing a book of poultry husbandry and I need some photos of different breeds and colour variations of mature birds and chickens, standard and bantam. I would like to ask for your help with photos without copwrites. Here in Bulgaria there's no such a big variety of breeds and quality of birds. Till now such kind of book with so many information for the different breeds and a lot of photos is not published yet in my country.
I am asking You to allow me to use the following photos:"

Then he listed the photobucket links for my pictures, three of them total.

They just threw up a red flag for me. If anybody else gets any, please let us know. Kind of a strange message to come from a BYC member.

...Especially a BYC member who I've never seen post.

That would throw up a red flag for me as well. If he was writing an actual book to sell, I would imagine he would hire a professional to take pictures for him. Something seems a bit fishy there.

Really? Strange!

I guess its not like they are asking for your SS number or anything like that. Mostly its a personal decision whether or not you want to allow them to use your photos. I do remember another post awhile back about a subject similar to this though. I remember a lot who replied said they would not allow someone to use their photos without more information about the purpose.

As a commercial advertising photographer I would say never "give" away photographs as they are copyright by you when you take them and it is a copyright infringement for someone to take your photo without your expressed permission. Courts allow damages for stealing of someones photos.

Looks
like he's posted before and is very up front about what he's doing. If you aren't a photographer and just shoot for fun, I don't see any reason why you couldn't ask for a byline and let him use them.

If you are a photographer, then it's up to you as to whether you care to let him or not, as a business decision. Could be a promotion without a real money-making aspect.
