Myself, I am personally a fan of the Occam's razor approach.....I like to keep it simple. For our new coop I'm thinking about a little hinged door/flap right behind the nesting box that can just be reached into. It kind of eliminates the water/moisture issue that could come with a little drawer thing. Sorry to not be super articulate....tired....
