I drained my girls belly today, but did not remove enough fluid as I was cautious about shock. How soon can I drain again without harming her? TY! 🙁

Did her belly continue to leak afterward? I have only drained one hen twice, and she leaked afterward, so it was hard to know how much fluid she had. How much did you get out? Some say not to drain too much, but I think @casportpony has removed as much as 500 ml of fluid. She is more of an authority on draining because she has practiced so much. I would go by the feel of her belly, if it is fuller and tight, or if she is gasping.

@Eggcessive I removed 2 60cc syringes. Her belly is still big, her comb is flopped on its side and the tips are white 🙁

How much did your vet remove the last time? Keep in mind that draining fluid does not cure the problem, but only relieves pressure and makes it easier to breathe and make them more comfortable. You might also check her belly today to see if she has leaked any more fluid on her feathers or where she has been sitting.
