Drake behavior toward people...

We've had a lonely Ancona drake for about 6 months, he's been so sweet and gentle.
Yesterday we finally got him two hens and now he acts aggressive when we come near, biting and flapping.
I'm sure he's just being protective of his girls, but can anyone tell me if this will settle down or is he going to stay like this?

It's breeding season, so they are extra worked up about everything. I never thought I had loud ducks until recently. Everything sets them off.
