Lighter messy dreadlocks look just like what you said...messy. It looks like you don't care and don't have the self respect to take care of yourself. Either do it "right" or don't do it at all.

Dreadlocks....lazy about hygenic habits and they do STINK when they sweat and sitting in the theater with one with dreadlocks just makes me gag.

I've seen a lot of black people who look GREAT in dreds. I have NEVER seen a white person that looks good in them, EVER. They look filthy and the person always looks dirty too.
But even on black people they need to be washed, or like another poster said, they STINK!

I agree white people or even Asian folks, do not go well with dreads.

Hair stylists have to make their commission in selling the products.

OH MY! I'm literally lmao right now!

Maybe this isn't such a great idea. I get VERY sick and tired of a hair style after I've had it for a while. Which I'm currently sick and tired of the style I have now. I was hoping there was a way to have nice looking tiny little dreads in parts of my hair, in a way I wouldn't look like a slob. I have thought things on occasion about people who look like pigs because they never wash their hair, face, etc. I really don't want anyone thinking those things about me. So I'm going to experiment by not combing my hair out for a couple weeks, and see if it looks good. My hair does NOT tangle at all hardly, so I don't expect much.

Why don't you try individual braids? They are cleaner (you can wash them), removable, and you can still do pony-tails and style them etc... It could be a fun change without messing up your hair!
