DBF and I have been dreaming of getting a house on a bit more property than we currently have. I bought my house before we met, and it's on 0.10 acre, to give you an idea of how small our lot is. We've found an area of unincorporated Pierce County that we like, and we even found a house we like. We're going to go see the inside tonight.

Not that we're in the market to buy a house, but just because we want to see if what we think we could afford (someday) and what we want are on the same page. According to this listing, they are!

When DBF was talking to the listing agent, he called me his "fiancee".

I about fell over, stunned. Then I told him that he needs to warn me first next time.

That led to more conversations about getting married. We've talked & talked & talked about it.

And now we've set a date. A real date. Like a "wow, better get going" date. Except we're doing this whole engagement thing bass ackwards: we're not telling anyone the date until there's been an official ask, and official yes, and the ring on display. In summary, we're getting married but we're not engaged yet.

I like doing things in a non-traditional manner. An official engagement announcement will happen sometime this summer.

BTW, if you're linked to me on Facebook, don't mention this. DBF and I are not telling anyone quite yet. My BYC peeps are the first to know.

Hey sweetie, tell him you need a 'ring' and a date.

You deserve that.

And congratulations!!..... Obviously you love and him and if he's talking marriage, he must love you too!

I'm so excited for you!!!!
I paid my pet sitter in cash the other day BEFORE we left for vacation, so she and her sig other went out to dinner to a very nice restaurant at which he got the whole staff involved and got down on one knee and everything. She called me the next day saying THANKYOU for paying me in advance! lol!

Thanks.

We have a REAL date. I mean... holy crapola... it's a day and a month in 2009. OMG. We're starting to make plans for reservations & figuring out how to get our friends there (we've always liked the idea of a surprise wedding).

Do I need to drop the "B" in DBF" now?

Congratulations!

Lol you sound just like me. When my Hubby and I decided to get married, there was no official "popping of the question"; we just started talking about it, decided to go for it, set a date bought a ring, and now we are married (and have been for 4 years). Lol I thought I was weird because of how we we did things, but I feel better now, knowing we aren't the only ones to decided to get married jointly and go for it.

We've been joking about which chicken we'd like to have be the ring bearer (sooo joking). We decided upon the buff orp... but we're just afraid she'd honk through the ceremony and try to eat everything.

Yeah, we're just going to go for it. We've been telling friends for a while now that if we have a party and say, "you NEED to come", they need to be there.

Half of the fun is the surprise of it. My mom and I were wedding planners at the church where I was raised. I'm not interested in a big, over-the-top wedding. I just want to have a fun party with our friends and loved ones there to witnes the start of our marriage. That's what DF (eek!) wants, too.

Hubby asked in a taco bell drive thru "wanna get married, how about hot sauce?" He says he was hoping i wasn't paying attention and would just agree.
