Yahoo answers some anonymous user ased in birds. Does the imprinted goose remember the imprinted person even after not seeing the person for a while?

Won't the goose forget the imprinted person and become indifferent or attack? I'm curious about the same.

Geese like all birds are highly individualistic so it often depends on the individual goose’s personality.
Geese have good memories, they’ve evolved to remember migration paths and domestic geese aren’t far removed from their wild counterparts so they’ve retained this ability. Geese are highly social and form strong bonds, they do remember individuals if they haven’t seen them for awhile.
However it doesn’t guarantee wether or not they’ll be happy to see that individual necessarily.
For example I once left for a one week trip, when I got back one of my ganders was happy to see me, another was suspicious at first, then bit me several times. He was scolding me for being gone for so long which isn’t uncommon behavior in parrots interestingly.

Also age is important, a goose may not remember someone they knew only as a gosling.
