Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

Barb, I like the kraut not quite all soft also.
as long as it is beyond raw cabbage taste.
if it is cooked, the raw cabbage taste is OK too
some of the recipes I looked at for ribs and kraut said to rinse and drain the kraut. and then it said to add pepper and salt to taste..
I am not going to do that..maybe the salt in the kraut is a little much, but I don't want to dilute the flavor..
actually, there were some C rats that weren't too bad. on convoys we dragged a trailer behind our duece and a half with a generator motor running. we would walk on the trailer tongue and put the cans of C rats on the engine manifold to warm them up.
non of the brass knew we did this..
Annie's cold lasted about three days.. I resisted her germs.. I very seldom catch cold or flu..
Jim thank you for your service, and to any other veterans reading this. My husband is a veteran as well. Wish we treated and supported them better. They risked their lives for us, or at least are always ready to. They should at least receive decent and free health care just like all our representatives do for life. I don't think that's too much to ask.

every job needs a good supervisor.
for almost a week , I was not able to get into the internet.
This early morning, I got up and using my vast understanding of computers, I solved the problem.. You know I am joking about my computer knowledge, right ?
I stumbled upon something , and gave it a try
it worked and here I am..

I would match my computer skills with both of yours! When I worked at the newspaper, we had an IT guy who could fix anything, and a reporter who sat near me majored in IT in college. When ANYTHING happened, I just yelled, "Rex" or "Joe," and someone fixed my computer. To me, it's often just luck or magic when I get something to work.

This week I am getting a problem solved that has plagued me for years; I found someone who was willing to do a relatively small job for a reasonable price. Usually, the construction guys around here don't want to mess with one- or two-day jobs. The bay window in the dining room was sagging when I bought the house. Over the years, it has dropped more, causing all the window frames to go wonky, and air leaks into the house like crazy. My curtains kind of flap in the wind when it's really breezy outside.

I found a "handyman" earlier this year who said he could remove the window structure, replace the picture window and both side windows, and rework the surrounding plaster for $9,300. That would have been a great idea, except I didn't want the bay window taken away, I just wanted it fixed.

Instead, I found David, who's been doing construction for decades. He has shored up the outside structure, added concrete footings to support it, squared up the opening, installed two Pella side windows, along with additional insulation and has charged me less than a quarter of what young Mr. Handyman was asking. And, I still have a bay window where I keep many planters full of succulents.

Since it is supposed to hit nearly 70 degrees today (in mid-November!!!) I am going to work on getting the garage tidied up enough that I can not only park my car inside, but there will be enough room to open the car door all the way when I want in or out. Wish me luck!

first of all. congrats of finding a fixit guy
I would be happy to find a warm body just to give me a helping hand..
second, isn't it wonderful how ambitious one feels at three AM ? I hope your garage cleaning goes well,.
on the days that I don't feel just too ambitious, sometimes I just go out with no specific plan in mind. I poke around a little and soon I am doing something constructive
don't get me wrong, there are days that I don't bother to even go out..
these nice days are a blessing. it would be a sin to waste them.
luckily, Annie is driving her sister to her cataract appointment. so I have the whole day for myself..
