Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

it is a nice sunny , cold day.
second day of the nine day deer hunting season.
so far we haven't heard any shots.
the big gangs around here have gotten too old,
or died off. the younger generation are not as
gung ho .
I had my annual physical on Friday.
my labs all were within reason.
If a passenger jet doesn't fall on me, I should enjoy
many more days..
we both got the most up to date covid shots.
we always pass on the flu vaccine.

Glad you are okay Jim. I haven't gotten either vaccine this year. I got sick every time I got the covid shot, so I'm wary to get it again.

I don't see anyone hunting close around here, but I do hear shots off in the distance here and there. I'm imagining Elmer Fudd shooting and missing that dastardly rabbit. One of my dogs is gun shy enough to want to stay inside. I'll be happy when this week is over.

My deadbolt on one of our doors decided today it wasn't going to open fully. I only use them when husband is gone. Took me a while to fiddle with it. Took it apart, banged a few things, cussed a lot, than tried wd40 and that was the ticket. Took the mechanism out of the door and replaced the plates to keep the cold air out. We will need a new one.

Congrats on the good physical news, Jim.

I've gotten all my COVID boosters and my second shingles shot. If you've ever had shingles --and I have -- once is definitely enough. I don't get the flu shots, but I wish I could have gotten some protection from whatever I picked up when I was back home at the beginning of the month. I am still coughing like crazy, waking myself up three or four times a night. Enough already.

Don't get a lot of hunters out here, and I'm good with that. I used to get whitetails in my yard when I lived in town, and I loved watching them. Except when they were cleaning out my bird feeders or eating the tops out of my evergreens. I like the Elmer Fudd comparison, Lisa.

Congratulations on beating the dead bolt into submission.

A couple of friends came down from Minnesota yesterday, and Ian did several projects, including digging a trench for me to bury all the deceased birds that I've been storing the chest freezer. I told him I would fill it in myself because I wanted to open all the bags and get a last look at my pets. Today, as I was filling in the trench, I kind of regretted that decision. Who knew there were so many of them or that the backfill would be such a strenuous job?

Fwiw DH and I got the new Covid, flu and rsv shots at the same time. We had sore shoulders for a couple days but that’s it! We were really pleased! I had a mild case of shingles during the pandemic so I want to get the shot but the nurse giving them recommended to do that one on its own.
Oh wow that’s awesome! My dad and his fiancée both got really sick from the Covid shot so now my dad thinks I shouldn’t get it but his fiancée thinks I should or at least ask the doctor hah
