Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

this morning I have to go in for a blood draw
then I am going to the wine shop and picking up some malt extract and yeast.
I found a simple beer recipe that I will try this time.
I hope it works because I have to wash 40 flip top beer bottles. yeah, the 3 gallon batch turned out to be a 5 gallon batch. same amount of work except for the extra 16 bottles

Happy Brewing Jim.

I tripped on a dog toy yesterday and hit the door frame and floor pretty hard. Nothing seems broken, but everything is bruised, swollen or just dang sore.

Not looking forward to tomorrow's gun fest. I have a few dogs that are terrified of gunfire thanks to my dumb neighbors.

How's your recovery going, Lisa? And, how are the dogs doing? BTW, I totally understand the "urgent need for ice cream." I've had that myself! I now only eat the non-dairy equivalent, which is much pricier. I have to REALLY want ice cream, and sometimes, I still do!

I hope you got all your bottles washed, Jim, and that the blood draw went okay.

It's in the 20s here this morning but is supposed to hit above 40 this afternoon. It's like a free pass to put away all the outdoor stuff that I should have put away long ago. Most of the yard art is stowed in sheds or the garage, but I still have to gather up the last few pieces and the deck chair cushions.

My new accidental rooster, Moses, may have been a pirate's parrot in a previous life. Again yesterday, he hopped onto my shoulder when I was trying to scoop feed out of the bag. Thank goodness Moses is a nice rooster; if Billy jumped onto my shoulder, I would expect to lose an eye.

I'm doing okay Barb. Still having troubles lifting much with that arm. It's kinda like when I had it replaced, so hopefully with time I regain strength. The knee is more tender as the swelling goes down.

I gotta move all my potted plants into the cat shed for the winter. Talking snow for Monday, and cooler temps afterwards. Probably need to wait for my husband to come home now to do it. I did plug in the bantam heated water bowl, and will need to get the rest put out soon. Not looking forward to carrying water daily to fill the goose buckets as their hose will freeze up soon I'm sure.

good Sunday morning,
30F . good for the deer hunters. it means that the wet spots will be frozen and makes walking easier.
heard only one shot yesterday. we were in the bedroom so that meant it was closeby.
Lisa, I hope your soreness goes away quickly.
I have not gathered the beer bottles yet. they are behind the garage in Ollies bedroom. haven't put Ollie to bed yet, either.
yesterday I did start the batch of beer. it went very well
today I took a hydrometer reading. it was a little more than good. 1.o45 should yield at least 5% APV
(alcohol per volume )
I am about to add the yeast in a few minutes.
No word from the boys about yesterday's hunt.
