Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

I did a few things outside too, but quickly discovered I'm a bit out of shape. Back wasn't happy, so I took it as easy as possible. Trimmed a few younger fruit trees. Planted a blueberry bush. Poked around here and there. It was nice out.

Getting older isn't fun Jim. Take it easy. We got the rest of our purchased shrubs planted. Well husband planted and I pointed, and stomped soil around the bases. Almost getting too warm. We never seem to have any in between weather.

If the weather never changed it would get boring.
I cut seven green cuttings from the elderberries. Have them all potted in their mini green house.
I got two cuttings from a bush farther up the road. Now we wait..
I wish I had a hubby to help with projects around here, lol

Hubby went plant shopping with me last week. 24 tomato starts, 12 peppers, a flat of onion starts, lettuce and some flowers. Trying not to get too far ahead of myself this spring. I ususally end up buying starts and never getting them into the ground. My garden will be late this year, as usual but i will get stuff planted. It should be easier this year though as I am currently unemployed so I have time to prep the garden.
Used the last 2 jars of diced tomatoes for lasagna for mother's day gathering at the parents. Lasagna and homemade bread was my contribution. It was a nice visit. Need to make sure I get more tomatoes canned this summer.
I think I will get cuttings from the lilac bush and try to root them. I love lilacs! But I need to figure out a place to plant them, I would like a whole row of them.

That's a lot of tomato plants. You must eat a lot of them. Do you can or freeze? I think everyone's garden is late this year, especially for cold crops. Love lilacs. Little Miss Kim is my favorite. It blooms a bit later than the old fashioned ones.

Wyo, Now would be a good time to root some lilacs. Have y ou ever done rooting ? I just completed two 5 gal buckets of green cuttings.
7 Elderberries and 20 plums.
I might have to do more plums later on. these first ones didn't look too robust.
I am not looking forward to the storms forecast for tonight.

I will take lilac cuttings this afternoon. I have some rooting compound, so I will use that.
We have a volunteer Mulberry bush that is in a bad spot, so I will take cuttings from that one also and see what happens.

We are planning to fence an abandoned pasture area for free-ranging chickens and I hope to get some shrubs and other cover growing in there for them. Fruiting plants would be a plus.
