Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

Pics
A good night's sleep is always a good thing. It's one of those things we take for granted when younger.

I decided yesterday to mow the lawn because of the rain they are predicting for Saturday. I got the main lawn mowed yesterday, and will work on all the extra stuff. Seems every year our lawn grows, and grows.

Plan is to plant the sweet corn this afternoon. Not sure if I'm gonna be the pusher or the horse. The push corn planter we have often needs help going through the clods.

Garden seems to be only doing well with weeds this year. Nothing seems too enthusiastic to grow. Fine! I won't be too enthusiastic to eat it either.

Finally getting over Covid and getting active again.

I think I had another firm gaslight me after having a phone interview. Is it really that hard to call and say you gave the job to someone else? If so, then don't tell me you will call to let me know if I got the job or not.
I am getting so tired of searching for a job with a decent wage.

Sorry, about the rant - it has been a long month of unemployment. Lots of job listings out there, but no-one seems to want to hire an old fart.

Gardening!

Anyone mulch tomato plants with grass clippings? Good idea or bad idea?
I mulch mine with clippings all the time. Cuts down on weeds, and keeps the soil covered to slow down any blight. We add some every week. Just don't put them too thick or they become a slimy mess underneath.

I can't imagine trying to find a job as an older person. Hopefully you can find something @wyoDreamer .

raining here today. good. I didn't want to work outside anyhow. lolol
Wyo, I thought employees were difficult to find. I guess that pertains only to minimum wage people.
I think you told me what you did, but I forgot. I seem to recall something like drafting or illustrating ? Don't let searching get you down. You are not so old.
Well, at least you don't have a gray beard. lolol
I have read so much about mulching grapes. mulch, don't mulch, use cardboard, no don't, use straw.
I decided to go with some ground cover cloth with a layer of rotted wood chips on top.

Rain here too. We did not get our corn planted yesterday because it was too wet. I guess now it's even wetter.

maybe give up on the corn and plant rice ..
I just helped Annie build some enchalatas .
first attempt it. they will be finished baking in about ten minutes. I am really not a fan of Mexican food. I do like chimichangas ,though. Maybe I can douse the enchilatas with sour cream and salsa.
note my Mexican spelling. lolol

We love Mexican cooking here, and still douse it in sour cream. Yum. :)
the enchalatas turned out very good.
added sour cream, chopped lettuce and sauce. they were almost like chimichangas.
Annie used left over rotiseried chicken.
i am mentally designing a rotary drum composter. thinking of using two 4x4's fpr the frame.. have to make it high enough to fit a wheel barrow under it to empty it
