Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

I'm so sorry. Dogs never live long enough. Big hugs. I haven't gone through bone cancer in a dog. I do know it is a tough one. What breed of dog is yours?
She is a pitbull, had her since she was 6 weeks old. Love her to pieces. Nope dogs never live long enough. @wyoDreamer if I get 8 months I would be in heaven. She will tell me too, I will not let her suffer more than she is right now, my decision when said DH.

Anjanet, you are right; I think our critters always let us know when it's time to let them go, even when we just want to hold on tighter.

Because I was the "hospice home" for a breed rescue, I had to let go of too many dogs whose bodies gave out long before I was ready to say goodbye. I hope you and your girl have months left together. When my heart dog, Holly, was diagnosed with cancer, the first vet said nothing could be done. I forced her to refer me to Iowa State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, and Holly got 18 mostly good months.

Glad to hear Annie is feeling better, Jim.

My Minnesota friends are coming today, and chicken-run building is set to begin tomorrow. Today, I have a long list of tasks to accomplish before they arrive -- because procrastination is one of my talents. I will be furiously cleaning house (although living on a "farm road" means any dust I removed yesterday would have just been replaced by today, and my dogs and cats would have also replaced any swept-up pet hair). I have no good excuses for the rest of my to-do list.

good first day of Sept.
we both woke up early. then it was a race to the single serve coffee pot. lol
I am all coffee'd up already.
six AM and it is still dark out. it is getting depressing.
I had a good session at the therapist yesterday. He does acupuncture at the end. I really like that. it helps.
Barb, don't forget to have your chain saw put back together. You might need it sometime.
I am not going to have any more dogs. I have outlived too many.
I could use a cat or two. I am going to have to do something about these red squirrels. they are in all the buildings. and they are messy. especially when they eat pine cones.
I haven't been upstairs in the garage for a long time, I can only imagine what it is like up there.

I'm also not a fan of the early darkness.

My Jim always liked the acupuncture treatments, too. They seemed to help with his neuropathy.

Tom and Renee arrived yesterday afternoon, and we hit Menards for lumber last night so run building can start this morning. I had a bit of sticker shock at the prices, but I used a couple of rebates and earned another. Things cost what they cost; I'm grateful for Tommy, the perfectionist, who insisted on looking at what felt like every cedar board in the store.

Also, they have a farm in Minnesota, and he is pretty expert at taking down trees. When I told him what the service was going to charge, he said to wait two weeks, they will come back and he will take it down for free. That sure makes the cost of the lumber seem insignificant.

Although the table saw scares me, Tommy has no such fear. We saved some money by buying boards he's going to rip. I would NEVER do that.

Hope everybody has a good day and that we all keep al our fingers and toes!

The ONLY, and I mean ONLY, positive of the sunrise being later in the morning is not having to rush out to feed, water and let out the chickens--again the only positive. I am not happy with the later mornings or the earlies darkness at night--I am not closing up the chickens at 8!

Happy Sept 1st too--we are headed into apple and pumpkin season-my favorite time of the year--decorations, food, and sweatshirts!

Enjoy the day all!

although it was too hot for lumberjacking, I cut a couple more branches off. I have two more that I want to do, but I need a longer electric cord. only about six feet longer..
we started cleaning out the big lean to. more like moving things from here to there. we should just bite the bullet and rent a five yard dumpster. If we lived in town I could put things on the curb. my DD does that all the time. sometimes she doesn't even make it back into the house and somebody is scarfing it up.
Barb. did you hide Tom and Renee"s car keys ? How is the project going ? I can imagine what cedar costs today. In 1965 I built this house with cedar board and batten. about five years later I added a back porch.
the price of cedar more than doubled in that short of time.
