Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

Annie bought a twofer gyros from Arby's. I ate the first
one without cucumber sauce yesterday. it was good , but
not complete without the sauce. so today I made some
sauce. had a carrot dipped into it. pretty darn good.
I am going to eat the gyro later when I get hungry.
forty degrees here, no sun. I think I will work on
the tractor tomorrow. the longer this warm weather
holds out, the better the chances of no more real
cold weather. about the third week of Feb the mean
temperatures are supposed to start to climb up.

Good luck with Annie's pacemaker. My father had one put in last year. Kinda freaks me out thinking about one of those in my body, but better than the alternative.

Glad you got the living situation straightened out Jim. Sometimes you have to stand up or get taken advantage of. I think as we get older we need to stand up more.

Barb it's sink or swim here with house plants. Some I can keep and others I can't. They better get with the program or get chucked in the field.

We went to breakfast as soon as Randy left.
I had my raspberry crepes.
We didn't get home until five PM.
It felt good to not have to rush home.
GS Kalib had a job interview yesterday.
They hired him and put him to work last
night. He will be working from 10PM to 10AM
for seven days . then he has off for the next seven days.
It is care giving. I don't know any details, yet.

Bet those crepes were delicious -- but not nearly as good as the freedom to come and go as you and Annie please!
yep, I think the freedom has a slight lead.
and yep, the crepes were great. It had been a long time
since I had them. The edges are stuffed with
cream cheese , with a generous topping of raspberries,
and I always tell the waitress that her tip depends upon
how much whipped cream she puts on top. that always
works..
I lost about 20 pounds since thanksgiving.
little jaunts like this don't help that cause.

Jim, hope you and Annie enjoyed your first weekend of freedom!

I am welcoming our warm weather, but because the ground is still frozen, all the melted snow is pooling up and/or creating mud. My Cochins are peeved because I refuse to let them out to dirty their feathered-feet.

Two of them laid their first eggs of the season yesterday. If they are trying to bribe me to let them play in the mud, it won't work.

Still, it seems like spring might actually get here before too long. I have started thinking about what I really want/need to grow and dreaming of a veg garden where I, not the squirrels, will harvest food. Rabbit fencing mostly keeps the bunnies out, but those pesky squirrels climb right in.

Yesterday, I spotted a squirrel with a full ear of corn on the metal-mesh-topped outdoor table. I don't know where it found corn or if it was a subtle hint about providing food over the winter when the little raiders can't steal my produce.

Sunday Annie had to get a covid test.
then we went to the Eagles Nest for breakfast.
came home to an empty house.. very nice..
I think Annie is going to fill in the void by cooking.
not a good thing when I am trying to lose weight.
the Eagles fell apart as soon as the Chefs took
the lead . I told Annie that the coach should
call a time out. I could see the change in them.
the game was OK, but the half time show was
not good. and the commercials were nothing
special. not like back in the olden days..
